Being a migraine sufferer can be a lonely experience. It’s a pain that many people find hard to understand. But did you know there are almost 2 million people in Australia that suffer from migraines? Here’s some advice on migraines and how to handle them.

What is a migraine?

It is thought that migraines are the result of blood vessels in the brain.

What are the symptoms of Migraine headaches?

The common symptoms associated with migraine headaches include:
  • More likely to be serve pain
  • Intense pounding, throbbing and/or debilitating
  • More likely to be located on one side of the head
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Sensitivity to light/sound
  • Visual disturbances (e.g. flickering lines, spots) before onset of headache
  • More likely made worse by light exercise e.g. climbing stairs
