Practised for over 100 years, physiotherapy treats physical injury, disease and dysfunction by encouraging the body to heal itself by moving more efficiently.
Physiotherapists work in a wide variety of health settings, such as intensive care, mental illness, stroke recovery, occupational health, and care of the elderly. They use a variety of different treatments – such as manipulation, mobilisation, stretching, massage, electrotherapy, strapping and supports – to help manage and relieve pain.
