A personal mission to improve the lives of people with arthritis
In the 1950s, there was a desperate need for better medicines to manage the pain and inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis. Aspirin was the standard of care, providing some degree of pain relief and anti-inflammatory action, but also had significant gastrointestinal side effects. Dr Adams set about discovering a more potent, safer alternative.
1990
Targeting cold and flu
Nurofen Cold & Flu licensed, the first ibuprofen-based remedy targeting cold and flu
1994
Combined pain relief
Nurofen Plus is licensed, the first OTC pain reliever combining ibuprofen with codeine.
1997
Fast-acting relief
Fast-acting Nurofen launches, with sodium ibuprofen for significantly faster relief than standard ibuprofen – later becoming Nurofen Zavance in 2007.
2015
Accurate dosing for children
Nurofen for Children launch flat nosed dosing syringe for all Nurofen for Children products.
