Always follow the usage instructions. As such FeverSmart™ is not intended for constant use.
Can the adhesive be used for children with sensitive skin?
The inert nature of silicone results in a highly biologically compatible material and, as a result, allergies are extremely rare. In the rare event of sensitisation to silicone, characterised by redness or itching developing, please discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
My child has had a reaction to the patch. What do I do?
Please discontinue use immediately and seek advice from a healthcare professional. Continue to monitor temperature using another method and keep a record of the types of devices and readings obtained with each device so that this can be shared with the healthcare professional. Please also contact RB and repost this incident as an adverse event.
Will the adhesive damage my child's skin when it is removed?
The Monitor uses a medical grade soft silicone adhesive. This type of technology is used in many medical situations to offer gentle but reliable adhesion. Excessive repeated stripping on and off of the Monitor should be avoided and the adhesive should only be applied to skin that is not damaged, broken or irritated, excessively thin or if there is any other underlying skin condition.
When my kids have a fever they get quite sweaty, will the adhesion of the patch be affected?
The adhesive uses Silicone technology similar to that widely used in hospital setting for providing secure yet gentle adhesion. Like most adhesive plasters performance will be impaired when placed on a surface with excessive moisture. That is why it is recommended to ensure the armpit area is clean and dry before applying the Monitor. The adhesive has been tested and confirmed to adhere adequately in-use.
